Inside Palm Desert’s “Interior Design Candy Store”: A Behind-the-Scenes Look at Egg & Dart, Angela Morris, and the Future of Desert Luxury

by Lisa Angell

A Collaborative Feature with The American Dream TV

Palm Desert has long been known for that signature Desert style — a blend of texture, creativity, craftsmanship, and "where did you get that?" design moments that make our homes feel elevated and inviting.

But there’s one place in the Coachella Valley where all of that inspiration actually starts… and it’s a location most people don’t even know exists.

Welcome to Egg & Dart, the valley’s legendary to-the-trade design showroom, where interior designers come to dream, collaborate, and craft the beautiful spaces you see throughout Palm Springs and beyond.

For this month’s episode of The American Dream, I spent the morning with Angela Morris, one of the desert’s most sought-after interior designers — along with partners Patrick from Egg & Dart and Richard representing SieMatic, the world-renowned German cabinet line. Together, they showed me how top designers turn ideas into reality with the materials, textures, and craftsmanship available right here in our own backyard.

And trust me… if you’re getting a new home here in the desert, or planning a remodel, this is the world you want to know about.

✨ Meet Angela Morris: Turning Inspiration Into Reality

You know when you meet someone and instantly think:
“Ohhh, this is the person you want driving your remodel?”

That’s Angela.

Warm, wildly creative, and able to translate a client’s inspiration into a fully realized, livable design, Angela is redefining what desert luxury looks like — blending Palm Springs ease with high-end craftsmanship and lasting quality.

As we walked through Egg & Dart, she said something that stuck with me:

“This is the place to curate your beautiful home.”

And the moment you step inside, you understand why.

🪟 Window Treatments, Textures & Every Fabric You Can Imagine

One of the first stops inside Egg & Dart:
The wall of fabrics.

If you love textiles, pattern mixing, or that feeling of touching a material and instantly imagining it in your home — brace yourself.

Angela introduced me to Patrick, the showroom’s resident expert and the guy every designer depends on.

He shared:

“If it’s available and it’s hot right now, it’s going to be here.”

Some of the major lines they carry include:

  • Kravet
  • Fabricut
  • Scalamandré
  • Cowtan & Tout
  • Thibaut
  • Stout
  • Marcus Williams

And yes — homeowners can walk in for inspiration. It's still a to-the-trade showroom, but Patrick and the team are amazing at matching homeowners with an interior designer who fits their style and scope.

Because design?
It’s not just fabrics and furniture.
It’s a relationship.

🛋️ The Furniture, The Lighting, The Inspiration Everywhere

Every corner of Egg & Dart has something different to spark an idea: lighting, hardware, wall coverings, custom drapery, furniture lines, trims, and details you didn’t even know existed.

And yes — the library is a little messy.
But that’s what makes it perfect.

REAL designers work here.

This is where mood boards are built…
Where concepts become clear…
Where textures meet color palettes…
Where creativity lives out loud.

🍽️ Like Any Good Party, We Ended Up in the Kitchen

And the star of the kitchen showroom?

SieMatic.

Richard walked us through some of the design elements that make these German-made cabinets so special — transitional, contemporary, modern, timeless.

There was one moment I LOVED (and you can see it in the segment!).
Richard pulled out a drawer under the sink and revealed:

🗑️ Pull-out trash
🧽 A clever sponge/storage tray
🚰 Perfectly designed space around the drain

I had an instant Tupperware-lid joy reaction — you’ll see. 😂
But truly, SieMatic is next-level cabinetry for anyone wanting the kind of kitchen that feels custom, intentional, and built to last for decades.

🎨 The Sandbox: Where Designers Come to Play

The final stop: the “sandbox” room — the heart of the showroom.

This is where designers spread out fabric swatches, tile samples, wood stains, countertop materials, hardware finishes, and more to pull together the full concept for a client’s home.

It’s also the space where…
✨ Vision becomes tangible
✨ Patterns start to harmonize
✨ Spaces begin to take shape

Angela explained it perfectly:
Some clients get overwhelmed when they see the sheer number of materials available. So designers often come in alone first, pull a cohesive concept, and reveal a refined selection rather than hundreds of options.

It’s thoughtful.
It’s curated.
It’s what separates “DIY remodeling” from a professionally tailored design plan.

🌴 A Hidden Gem That Deserves the Spotlight

Walking through Egg & Dart with Angela and the team felt like discovering the creative engine behind so many of the desert’s most beautiful homes.

This is where the magic starts.

If you’re dreaming about remodeling your desert home — whether it’s a small refresh, a full kitchen redesign, or a whole-home transformation — Angela Morris and her partners at Egg & Dart and SieMatic are the people who make it happen.

You’re in the BEST hands.
